Thanks jordi, just so considerate.

Today saw a patch welding in on the boot floor and the numberplate lights fixed and cleaned up and new bulbs fitted.
They clearly havent worked for years.

The MOT on this thing is ridiculous, it really is. I knew it was rough but whoever passed it is a numpty.

I also done the first coat of paint on the headliner which looks good.
Will seal the alpine windows tomorow before i take the tin tops engine out and hopefully i can stick the headliner and associated bits back in.

No bother Andy

Sounds like the MOT on my little Merc. I'm happy with it but when i got it home and started working on it I realised there were no number plate lights or fog lights. Not not working, just none existent!

The "slight corrosion" on the chassis is some small holes rotted through.

To make matters worse i did a tidyish job with some self tappers to fix the drivers door card back on and on the way home with the window right down it fell off its runners and the glass dropped into the door so i had to undo my door card repair to get it out and pushed all the window seal out pusing the glass back in and now can't get the seal back in. :argh:

So far number plate lights fitted, drivers side front and side indicator units replaced, door card repaired and engine fully serviced. All for around £50 which i don't think is too bad.

Has an oil leak from the bell housing which i'm 99% sure is engine oil so when i get moved i have a gear box out job.

Still loving it!

So been trudling around for a bit now, no FTPs to report.

The uj finally let go, so some severe shuddering happend.
so simple job really and the part already came with the car.
6hrs later and freezing my ass off its still not technically fixed.

Handlily a new prop had been fitted up front at some point.
annoyingly someone cross threaded or overtightened the bolts.
so it became a massive ball ache. New bolts on ordered.

Theres a bit of a harsh bang from the rear when going over bumps.
So i started to have a quick look at all the rattly bits associated
on the back door, removed tightened and adjusted a few bits
and now the rear door locks and shut spot on, for a disco anyways.
So i figured maybe its hitting the bumpstop or something as the suspensiom is quite tired. No lower shock bush! Well theres your problem. So i tied a few round of nylon rope around where it should
be and went home.

Bought set of 4 decent springs and recentish decent shocks used for 45 quid. And ordered some new lower bushes aswell, at 21p each im not fitting used ones again.

Will do the repairs needed. the rest can wait untill the tin tops ready for its MOT.

And enjoying it i must say, i just like the old girl. Just seems to wana keep working. Ive bonded with it more than i did with the carlton, i really liked that car but with the low miles i just expected it to work and that was all i wanted from it. Instead it just always had little annoyances and problems. Its not a car ive regretted selling.

But the landy is tired and looks hanging, nothings straight or undamaged but its engine seems to run just fine. Even tho the body has dissolved around it ( this is going to be addressed)

Ive bought a few bits for the disco, cambelt is being done next week when my kit arrives, water pump aswell whilst the aux belts are off and the rads out.

I bought a drivers mirror as the one fitted was sliconed in place.
Fitted and working lovely. FOUR DAYS IT LASTED and some bellend on my side of the road smashed the bastard. :pissed:

A pair of part worn tyres for 99p on ebay woop!

Fate.

The other day i went to a not so near by council tip, my local one is just a ball ache to use and needs permits for everything. The one i went to doesnt and is focused more on recycling. So i went over and dumped of an old fridge and about 50l of old engine oil.

Anyways, at this site it has its own charity shop. For a local hospice
which is a brilliant idea and i love a bit of recycling. Me being me i have to have a look everytime im there. Majority of it is old tat and knackerd push bikes and garden stuff. But in a pile of lawn mowers i spotted an old black and decker workmate, as id been looking for one cheap for a while i was Having that!

Having a scout about i find an old gardening trolley with something big and heavy in it, it was 98 disco transfer box complete with handbrake cable, drum and mounts. Having that too!

£20 to charity and im a happy boy. :doublethumbs:

Sounds like the same kinda love i have for my Mercedes.

Its rusty, needs some panels and welding. Seats are tatty and the door cards are rough. Loads of marks and dents.

Leave it parked for 3 weeks, jump in turn the key and drive away.

Can't wait to get moved so i can do a few jobs on my Zuk and satrt on the merc.

Edit: and its slow, really slow.
